More about Web Hosting

C&C provides faculty no cost access to a sophisticated, web-based "learning management system" (from a company called Blackboard). We typically host over 3,000 courses each quarter. This system allows students access to course announcements, notes, schedules, discussion groups, on-line tests, grades, etc. depending on how faculty utilize the system. Complete support for this system (including assistance in the creating of digital content) is available from C&C's Instructional Technology Group.

More about iLearn

Instructional Technology Group also offers assistance to faculty who wish to develop personal web sites, including workshops on how to utilize popular web development tools. Acting as consultants, Faculty Support Services advises faculty on preliminary web page design either for instructional or research purposes. Besides providing introductory support on many web site design software applications and offering requested workshops, we can help faculty by coordinating or identifying the various other units that deal with the creation, design, and hosting of your web-based materials. Recommendations are made as to the best way to store, present and archive materials required by faculty to achieve their instructional and research objectives. By helping faculty become aware of the many hardware and software services Computing and Communications offers from its various units, Faculty Support empowers faculty to make informed decisions as to what types of media elements, databases, and information to include in their site. From advising on presenting simple text -based documents to streaming media and database integration, Faculty Support Services can help faculty integrate all the disparate objects that create a complete web environment.

Through the Application and Multimedia Development group, C&C offers Academic Departments standard "web templates" (at no cost) that can be used to enhance departmental web sites. On a fee for service basis, AMD works with Academic Departments (as well as faculty) to develop custom departmental sites as well as sites supporting various research endeavors (centers, programs, etc.).
